Last week, while addressing the 25th International Conference on the Future of Asia, Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad, proposed an Asian currency linked to gold. Dr. Mahathir argued that such a currency would promote regional stability, while avoiding the so-called “dollar trap."
