Following the Russian Revolution, the Bolsheviks ransacked the Romanov palaces, taking most of the Fabergé eggs, along with huge amounts of imperial gold, silver, jewels, and Russian Orthodox icons. After the Romanovs were executed, the House of Fabergé was nationalized and looted by the Bolsheviks.
