UPDATE 1-China adds 16 tonnes to gold reserves in August

SINGAPORE, Sept 30 (Reuters) - China further increased its gold holdings in August, albeit at a slower pace compared to the previous month, the central bank said on Wednesday, as it looks to diversify its foreign exchange reserves.
